1...2...3... It's Hammer Time! - Happy Hammer Holiday's

If you recall about a week back I posted an entry stating I wasn't too interested in doing any Christmas themed reviews this year, well for a day or so I changed my mind and even recently posted an old review of a Christmas film I saw a couple years back.  Well I've changed my mind again and am going in a completely different direction, and that direction is Hammer.  Not one hit wonder, MC Hammer but the British film company who is famous mostly for their horror films, many of them starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.  So over this holiday season I will be presenting to you a Hammer Film-a-thon, with as many Hammer Films as I can handle.  Since I haven't seen very many of these feel free to recommend some good ones to check out. Below is the list, obviously the chances of me watching them all in one month is impossible!  I'll also be throwing in a little extra treat related to this in TheAnswer's Angels section, so look forward to that. :)

  1. I've always loved Vampires Lovers and Countess Dracula. I have them on a DVD together. There are so many other Hammer films I love. Dracula, Frankenstein, you name it.

  2. Yea, I'll definitely be checking out Vampires Lovers. I just bought the two new Hammer books that came out recently due to the 75 anniversary should be getting those tomorrow, so might get some more picks from those.

  3. I second the nomination for VAMPIRE LOVERS, one of the best of the Hammer films.

Another one you should enjoy is the very different take on the traditional werewolf story, THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF (1961). Another reason to recommend it is actor Oliver Reed (GLADIATOR) in one of his earliest roles.

I'll take a look at Curse of the Werewolf though, thanks for the recommendation.
